Problem w/ the ol famous C T D :( 1 Year ago Karma: 0
Hey guys, i have been surfing all day trying to fix my other pc's C T D prob w/o any real solutions, hoping someone here might have a clue as to whats going on.

The other system spec are as follows:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
cpu=1.99 GHz
1 gig of RAM
Nvidia Geforce 5200 set at 1024x768 w/ a refresh rate of 75hertz
driver version of above is 7.7.3.0

Game is the Deluxe Version wich includes SF
Patched to 1.41
In the top right corner, once the login is done, says 1.1.2965-797.0

Now i know this pc isnt great for trying to make a film and what not, but not long ago b4 i built my new pc, it played fine. Not to mention i just reinstalled everything on that pc!!!lol The only other programs on it thus far is the BF2 ,yahoo, and msn.
The game gives no error just crashes w/o warning at different intervals.

If any one can suggest on how to fix, i would be greatful.

I want it to work so when my brother comes over, or a freind, just to be able to get the BF2 expirence!!! lol

Thanks in advance for any info you might be able to give on solving this problem.

p.s. Almost all the Video settings are set to Low and AA to 2x.

OMG! that driver is like 3yrs old bro....

do yourself a favor and install the latest driver for your card at Nvidia.com

Pay attention on the uninstalling drivers instructions... BEFORE you start ;D

Make sure its a clean boot with as few as possible processes loaded and use a good defraging program.

#Special note: you do not mention your sound card/drivers, on such an old spec machine I would make sure that everything is updated... no matter its a card or onboard.

Read up at Tweakguides.com on BF2 settings

ADDED: are you 100% updated for XP?

Is there a way to get to the options thru a .ini file or something for video prefs w/o having to load the game?

Yes there is... but I am not the one who would know, I stay away from the setup files after breaking them once 8)
